Valentine's Day & Happy Times

The last week or so has been incredibly busy ... now if I could just remember where the time went?

The night before Valentine's Day, Enrique worked until the wee hours of the morning. I entertained myself by randomly deciding to paint our bathroom until he got home. I'd post pictures, but it might scare half of you. Let's just say I'm not scared to put up any kind of color on our walls - especially a fun lime green/yellow. It's fab, I swear! At any rate, we did not get to bed until almost 5:00 AM. It's only natural for Enrique to sleep until almost 2:00 PM on Valentine's Day since he worked so much. Unlike the hubby, I have a hard time sleeping in and was awake and touching up the paint by 9:00 AM. Once my sleeping beast beauty was up, we made a yummy breakfast: adorable little heart shaped pancakes that Enrique helped me make. I know, it's OK if you've just thrown up a little in your mouth at how cliche that was. Give me a break - I had a moment of weakness walking through the breakfast isle of HEB. Obvs.

The rest of our special day was spent cuddling by the fire on our oversized chair and watching P.S. I Love You. (If you haven't seen that movie yet - do it now!) As soon as it was over, though, Enrique was up and ready to go to work again. Poor guy worked until the next morning.

We did find the time to put up the hammock! Now we can enjoy the beautiful Texas days in our backyard while our doggies play.

Enrique was set to work three weeks straight and I was already getting antsy after last weekend, which was only week two. Lucky for me (and Kike), my mom came to visit for a few days. Let's just say I'm not quite sure I can go shopping again for a long time. No, that's a lie. BUT, we did find both our dresses for the weddings coming up in March! I always love spending time with Mama. I dropped her off at the airport this morning and already miss her like crazy. I did keep myself busy today, though. We worked on our front law and now it looks Amazing. I'd never had to do my own yard work before, so I wasn't aware that one had to clip certain plants in Spring in order to let them bloom once more. It's amazing what a little mulch, clipping, trimming, and rocks around the beds will do!

This week I'll get back to painting more areas of the house and getting ready for the in-laws on Thursday! They haven't both come while Kike is off work, so we're very excited for an action-packed couple of days with them!

We hope you were all able to spend your Valentine's Day with the one(s) you love. Until next time....

Love!

Help support a friend & fight for a cure!

Dear friends and family,

In November, a friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer at the very young age of 31. This July she will be taking part in Susan G. Komen's "Beast Cancer 3-Day." Here she'll join thousands of other men and women and walk 60 miles(!!!) in the course of those three days.

She's a fighter, guys, and is looking for support in raising money to - as she puts it - "kick cancer's ass!"

Below I've posted the link to a page where you can read Erin's story and maybe make a small donation to help her fight her way through this. Using her words again - Would you be willing to give up just one cup of coffee for her this week? Any little bit helps!

To the start of a New Year

I remember back when having a LiveJournal was a necessity of life. Everyone did it. I guess not much has changed in eight years. Well other than the ocassional degrees, spouses, mortgages, jobs, babies, and dare I say it...responsibilities! I admit I've re-joined the bandwagon a bit late - but better late than never.

Already 2009 has brought so many blessings to our friends and families. I can't even count how many friends of ours are have just had children or are expecting their first anytime soon. It's nice to know that we're in that part of life where our get-togethers will include all the joys kids bring. Other friends are planning their weddings and awaiting the start of that new chapter in their lives. Some are excited to move to new cities and begin new jobs. We're very excited for all of these adventures that are happening all around us. We can't wait to share these experiences with you this year!

As promised by my loving husband when I first met him, my year is already full of adventures, plane tickets, and road trips that have either already passed or are soon to come!

We kicked off the New Year in style - enjoying the sand between our toes in Puerto Rico! We were fortunate enough to spend lots of time with family there before flying back to Orlando and immediately driving back to San Antonio. Srsly, could our road trip extravaganza have started any earlier? No bigs - we just drove 21 hours with a Pilot full of dogs and luggage.

Of course we can't sit still for long....
Less than three weeks later we're each hopping on separate flights to opposite ends of Northern USA. Enrique flew into Boston and drove to Stowe, VT with Paco & Lauren for a fun skiing trip in the freezing cold! Video footage would prove that some intense sledding was done as well. I haven't done that since I was very little so I was a tad jealous!

I, on the other hand, went to visit my very fabulous friend, Arian, all the way in Seattle, WA! I had not seen this girl in over two years and the time apart was obvs excruciating! We went to amazing restaurants, went up the space needle, had fish fly over our heads at the fish market, went shopping for what Kike calls "wartbands," sweat like crazy in Bikram, had our very overdue sushi time, and fell in love with Kid Cudi. It's really OK if you don't get half of that - there was fun to be had by all!

Of course, we're back in San Antonio again and Enrique is working like a mad man. We are enjoying every minute with have together. Never a dull moment with the two of us! He signed us up to go to a timeshare presentation this morning.

Are we interested in owning one?
Absolutely not.
Did we sit there for three hours listening to possibly the most boring man on the face of this planet, get attacked by two epically pushy individuals that kept telling us we could afford it even though we kept saying we just weren't interested, and have me lose my cool and tell a man I wouldn't even take this timeshare if it was given to me for free (in a nicer way of course) all to have a free 4 night cruise for 2?
Most def we did.
And we ran out of there with our prizes in our hands like a bat outa hell. I'd love to say we're never going back to one of those things, but who can resist getting some of these things virtually for free? I'll tell you one thing if you don't already know it - a Carlo won't pass that opportunity up.

In other news, I went to my first bible study on Monday night with Rosanna and loved it. I've emailed the leader and plan on attending whenever I'm not living out of my suitcase. Also, the dogs are doing pretty well. Delilah recovered quickly from her surgery (cancer free!), but her arthritis is starting to affect her a lot. She's been taking some medicine and seems to be having an easier time up and down the stairs now. It's interesting to see how young-spirited she is and sad to see how her age is trying to limit her. We're doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and able to play with Gracie and Odie as if she were their age!

I suppose that's all I have for now. I hope you're all doing well and that 2009 continues to bring each of you many blessings.

Love!
